Somatic Inquiry, Nature Reconnection, Yoga, Meditation

Welcome! Thank you for being curious and opening to openness…that is what this work is all about.

About Me:

Over the years I’ve worn the hat of biologist, yoga and meditation instructor, outdoor educator, expeditionist and wilderness guide. Through connecting so many seemingly unrelated dots, I now stand in front of you with a uniquely wonderful basket of skills and wisdom to potentially support you, dear reader, on your healing journey. The framework of Somatic Inquiry and Nature-Based Therapeutic Interventions offers me the language and perspective to articulate what I have learned in my own life: connection to the natural world allows for the body’s innate healing wisdom to come forward in ways that can be otherwise inaccessible. The totality of my lived experience informs my process and together we can rediscover that which brings you into a state of healthy, calm aliveness.

For a deeper dive into the theory and history of somatic work in the spirit that I offer, please visit The Somatic Nature Therapy Institute. I actively study with and am supervised by Katie Asmus, the founder of the institute. I am so grateful to carry her teachings forward in this world.

About the Work:

What does all of this look like in process together? Every session is entirely unique and is guided largely by an element of responsive attunement by me. You are in control the entire time; I know nothing other than how to hold what is arising and support your journey as we navigate forward together. I listen deeply on many levels and offer what shows up for me as considerations, not as absolute truths. It is all a beautiful, unpredictable process governed by your bodymindsoul (and especially, your nervous system) learning to trust me.

Some consistent elements of a session include:

  • Sessions are 2-2.5 hours long to allow us to move at the pace of the body, not the pace of the mind (or the clock!). This alone is radical work.

  • We start indoors with a grounding exercise based on your individual needs.

  • The first part of our time together is spent welcoming your story as it is in THIS moment, today, to come forward. This provides the opportunity to see what’s alive and which direction our work will take us. In addition to somatic inquiry, we may use journaling prompts, adapted yoga positions, song, movement and more.

  • The second part of our session is spent outdoors working with the material that has presented itself earlier. We will use components of mindfulness, silence, reflective exercises and beyond to dive deeper into your healing work.

  • We work together to discover (or rediscover!) your ability to hear, feel, understand and articulate the wisdom your body so desperately wants to share.

About the Land:

When we step onto the land together we will enter a beautiful old growth Hemlock forest, complete with a burbling stream and many, many natural beings both seen and unseen, with which to interact and learn from.

The gratitude I have for this level of connection to land is immense. This forest has already proven its ability to support many people to realize their healing potential - may you be among them!

What Else is Included:

I begin to hold you and your story before we even meet in person. I continue to carry it long after we part ways as it is vital that you do not hold it alone. In the space between sessions I offer:

  • Follow up check ins

  • Email/phone call/text message/voice memo support

  • Take home exercises if wanted/warranted

It is the deepest honour to walk alongside you in this work.
